Writing Workshop: Unit 2 We Are Authors!!
The purpose of this unit includes teaching
students the importance of sharing information as a real life reason for writing.
This unit provides an opportunity for students to sort and categorize objects, build
vocabulary, improve drawing skills and label and write a simple sentence.
In this unit, children will build their vocabulary as they visit the schoolyard and places in the community and use the words they learn there in their whole class and small group discussions.

You can help your child at home by talking about and naming the things they see in their classroom, in their bedroom or any places you
might visit together. As you name the objects you see or discuss, ask your child to think about the beginning sound of the word you are discussing.
