Unit 3: Pattern Writing and Writing for Readers
The purpose of this writing unit is to support our students as they move into conventional reading. In this unit the students are invited to write multiple pattern books similar to the ones that we will be reading in class. They will do it in the following ways:
* Students will practice one to one correspondence as they write as they write sentences with spacing .
* They will create their own reading material.
* They will create pattern books, similar to A,B,C leveled books.
* They will use their sight word knowledge to write one and eventually two sentences on a page.
*They will use their letter sound knowledge to write words that include the initial , medial and final sounds in words.
